What We Do

An overview of everything we offer at Artemis Alpacas, from experiences to events, to what we have coming up in the future.

Walking with the Alpacas 

 

Walking with the alpacas is a one hour experience, where participants can experience the beauty of the local surroundings alongside our animals. (age limit of 7yrs)

Children must be accompanied by a full paying adult (18+).

​

Prices:     
 

  • 7-11 years - £17.50 each
     

  • 12+ - £30    
     

  • Family Ticket - £85 (two adults two children under age 12)
     

  • Spectators -  £10

Participants will be walking on uneven farm land which can be muddy at times - this experience is currently unsuitable for those who have trouble walking, using a wheelchair or for pushing a pushchair - although we are looking to provide something suitable in the future.. 

​

What’s included: 

​

  • The walk will begin with a mandatory Safety briefing to ensure everyone knows how to stay safe with their Alpaca during the experience. 

  • This will be followed by an introduction to Alpacas with information about where they originate, what their diet is like,  their fleece  and some other titbits most people don't know!

  • Then alpaca walkers will spend a few moments getting to know their alpaca with a mini meet and greet session, feeding some treats and getting ready for the walk!

  • The walk will last around 45 minutes, however alpacas are quite curious animals and may want to explore their surroundings. There will be time for photos and giving snacks.
     

What might you need to bring?

  • In order to remain safe (but mainly dry) you will need sturdy wellies or boots, warm clothes and  suitable waterproofs for our great British weather. No umbrellas please the Alpacas haven't yet worked out what an umbrella is! Even if it is sunny outside, the ground may still be wet and slippy. 

  • In summer we advise to bring suncream for those hot sunny days. Make sure to bring water and stay hydrated. There will be an opportunity for you to purchase refreshments from the cafe during opening times - pre-booking is required.

  • Although we are not put off by rain, we reserve the right to reschedule bookings if we feel it is too extreme, or unsuitable for a walk. 

  • We're sorry but we cannot allow dogs to accompany us on our walk. 

     

Late arrivals

​

  • Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of your experience. If you are more than 10 minutes late you will not be able to take part as you will have missed our mandatory Safety talk. Please allow plenty of time for your journey as we would be unable to allow latecomers to join the walking group.

Spectators
 

  • If someone wants to walk with a full paying adult or child they will need to purchase a ‘spectators’ ticket, which is £10.

Cancellations

  • Please give 72 hrs notice to cancel or reschedule your walk. Sadly under 72 hrs notice we will not be able to reschedule or refund your booking.

  • Come along and meet and greet an Alpaca! Pet, feed and learn all about them (sorry age restriction to 5ys and above only at the moment). Contact us for further info and book in advance.

Educational Sessions

​

  • CEVAS accredited - Educational sessions linking to current educational curriculum

  • Find out all about the Alpacas -get up close to the Alpacas feed them some of their favourite treats and feel their fluffy fleece.

  • Children must be supervised by an adult (18 +) full risk assessments will be carried out pre-visit

  • For an extra special birthday gift why not book in with us? Spend some time with our alpacas for memories you won't forget. The  Yew Tree Coffee Barn and 'The Barn at Yew Tree Farm' function suite can provide the perfect venue for an extra special occasion.

  • Want to do something different for the bride to be? Give her an experience close to nature she won’t forget before the big day. Compliment the day with delicate afternoon tea and Prosecco in The Yew Tree Coffee Barn - needs to be pre-booked

  • An unforgettable experience on your special day -  Alpaca weddings at Yew Tree Farm !

  • A perfect setting for your wedding and to make your day extra special invite the alpacas . We can tailor any package to suit you - from a special photo shoot with the bride and groom to meeting your guests at the reception - we will have a specially decorated petting pen for guests to interact with the alpacas, they will have their best outfits on for your special day.

Corporate Events
 

  • A great opportunity to build relationships or de-stress with your team and learn about something new! This package can be planned around your schedule and agendas. Build on teamwork and bring people together while reducing stress levels. Evidence shows that a relaxed workplace is a productive one.
     

  • We can provide Alpaca walks – or petting sessions to fit in with your busy schedule.

Adopt an Alpaca

​

  • You can select and adopt one of our alpacas. Adoptions run for 12 months and will include all you need to know about your selected Alpaca - a certificate showing which alpaca you have adopted as well as a fact file containing a bit of info about your chosen alpaca; what their personality is like, their favourite food, their best alpaca friend in the herd and some of their fleece.

  • You will receive a biannual update on your alpaca including a photograph and a special mystery gift. You will also have the opportunity to meet your alpaca (this can be upgraded to a walk if requested). 

  • Adoptions can be purchased from the shop.

Gift Vouchers

  • Buy an Alpaca Walk gift voucher for that special person who can arrange their experience when it is convenient for them. Vouchers are valid for 12 months so plenty of time to book in.​
