Soggy SEPTEMBER

Updated: Nov 1

What a wet month - thought we might need to buy the alpacas some wellies!

Freya loves water and still thinks she can fit into the paddling pool - don't we all !!

Alpacas are well-adapted to high, dry climates like those found in the Andes mountains of South America. Their unique fleece is designed to keep them warm and insulated, not soaked! When their fleece gets wet, it can lead to a host of issues, from discomfort and fungal infections to hypothermia in extreme cases. Alpacas' fleece is luxurious, but it’s also dense, and a soaking rain can weigh it down, making it hard for them to regulate their body temperature. So, for those in wetter climates, here are some essential steps to ensure that a rainy September doesn’t turn into a woolly nightmare.
